✦ Find the Job:
Look in the newspaper, use the computer or go to the big park to talk to the proprietor. They should be able to unlock the career for you.
✦ Plan One Work Outfit:
After you get the job give your Sim 1 new work outfit. (Plan Outfit using any dresser)
- Note: You may need to use a mirror to Change Appearance to get your Sims hairstyle back.
✦ Performing Jobs:
You'll get messages for different jobs around town, you can also click on different Sims or venue proprietors and select Singer (If Sim is a Singer) for more options.
If you're in a small area and there isn't room to perform a job. Greet the Sim or select Friendly Introduction, go to a larger area and then call over Sim to where you are so you can perform the job.
✦ No Sing-A-Grams?
If you've got a scheduled gig/show, you may not get any sing-a-grams for that day. This gives you time to focus on your gig. However, you can still play for tips and perform Sing-a-grams.
There is a chance that you may not get any Sing-a-grams for a short while after you've finished with your gig/show. This maybe normal, they should start coming in over the next Sim-day.
✦ Play/Work for Tips: Where?
Click on Sim > Select Singer > Perform for Tips. You can play/work for tips at the Theater, Bookstore, Grocery Store, Big Park, Festival Lot, Pool, Bistro, or basically any lot that that has a lot of Sims gather will work. Placing a Subway or two can get some good tip money.
-- Practice with an instrument, like a guitar, learn new songs and get more tip money.
✦ Can't Play/Work for Tips:
If having issues not being able to play/work for tips, try deleting all work outfits, except for the default one and create 1 new work outfit. (Plan Outfit using any dresser) You should be able to play/work for tips after doing this.
- Note: You may need to use a mirror to Change Appearance to get your Sims hairstyle back.
✦ Auditioning for a Gig:
Click on Proprietor at (Big Park, for example) and select Audition for a Singer Gig. If you get the gig, it will be scheduled for the next day.
– Use the Career tab - Click on Gig Schedule; Tells you where to be and the time if you have a few lined up.
– You won't be able to audition for a gig at Level 1. It's at level 2 you can start auditioning for gigs.
✦ Call Over/Summon a Proprietor:
You can call over a Proprietor if your active Sim is on the lot.
– On Lot: Click on Proprietor and select Call Over
– If you have the Binders Stadium Shell, click on the building and select Summon.
✦ Setting up the Stage:
A couple hours before gig/show time, click the stage to set it up. -- Click on stage > Setup the Stage. You'll get 3 options: 1. Use Venue's Setup ; 2. Create Custom Setup ; 3. Use Previously Saved Setup which can be found in your family inventory.
- Note: If there is seating near the stage and it disappears, it's okay. Sims don't seem to mind that there isn't any seating. The markers are still there so that Sims can watch the shows, but the seating may not be replaced. This seems to be a bug or may be by design.
** To get the stage props back go into build/buy mode on the lot using testingcheatsenabled on shift-click on lot and select either build or buy on lot. Just going into build/buy mode and out seems to bring back the stage props.
✦ Playing The Gig/Show:
You'll have to keep an eye on your Sim. Watch for hints like gargling water. You'll want to queue up your next action. You can't queue up more than one action at a time.
✦ Selling an Album:
Click on Sim > Greet / Friendly Introduction > Singer > Sell album. - Need to be at career level 3 or 4
✦ Simfest Info:
You may need to place some Showtime lots to help Simfest to spawn. (Lots can be found in the Community Library tab) It may not matter in what order lots are placed, but here's the list of lots:
1. Performance Park (Big Park)
2. Mick's Master Karaoke (Live Venue)
3. Port-a-Party Warehouse (Private Venue)
4. Flyin' V's Coffeehouse (Coffeehouse)
5. *Optional* Stadium (Big Show venue)
Some have had luck with only placing one or two out of the possible 5 lots (Big Park and Live Venue, for example). Others have had to place anywhere between 2 and all 5 of them.
The "Big Park" lot needs to be placed first for Simfests to spawn. It may take a few days or possibly a couple-few in-game weeks for them to spawn. It seems to be by random chance.
You can place Performance Park from the community tab in the in-game library (Showtime section) or build one yourself with the lot type Big Park.
If a Simfest spawns you may get a message around 3am that a Simfest is starting at a given venue. What the message doesn't mention is that it won't officially start until 10am in the morning.
To take part send your Sim to the venue where Simfest is being held, (after getting the message about the show), click on the venue proprietor, select the option ask to take part. Various townie sims will perform, including yours.
✦ Proprietor Marker Placement:
You shouldn't have to worry about the marker placement. Unless you want to place in a specific place. You can do that by downloading the mod.

This item is not strictly needed to create your own custom show venues, since any showtime lot with a stage will eventually spawn one of these. However, if you would like more control over where your proprietor stands, you can use this item.
It shows up in Buydebug; filter the catalog for the Showtime EP to find it more easily. As with the crowd placement items, when you first place this object it will be invisible, but if you enter out of buy mode and back in it should appear. Only use one per lot; more than one Proprietor is not necessary.
As per game design, this object cannot be deleted once placed; however you can move it using the Moveobjects On cheat.
