This is very strange. My sim woke up and literally zipped out to her front porch. I tried to get her to go inside and she obviously thought she was. She made pancakes out on the porch so I sent her to the bathroom. She zipped in and sat on the toilet, but then zipped out to the porch again and washed her hands....backwards. :D :D :D

I've never seen that happen before. But have heard of odd things like that happening.

It seems to have something to do with the door. Before I started this fresh on my new computer, I have a lot of CC on my saved games. I haven't yet downloaded them on this computer so I'm playing with just in-game stuff. Much of it has either disappeared or has been replaced with other (sometimes weird) bits. In a couple of cases the door has disappeared completely so when I replace them with a regular door, it's not recognized as a door.
I just did a little test by playing another sim and had him visit. He couldn't go to the house because from his perspective, there was no door.
So now I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and uninstall everything and start over again. Riverview is still an issue. I have to reinstall it every time I start the game.
If I were to save each of my sims to the library to load them back into a new game, would they keep their current status regarding their careers and their romantic connections?
-
You shouldn't need to reinstall the game itself. You might try instead resetting your Sims 3 folder.
Sims 3 - How To: Create a New Sims 3 Folder - With Photos
https://jadekitten.net/mfhot/index.php?topic=60.msg176#msg176
This may help with getting Riverview to finally stay installed.
But also, saving your families and houses - separately to the library and starting them in a new save may help as well.
Add your empty houses to the save and edit new doors/windows etc. so it's functional and then add the families back.
When I have had saved games filled with CC and removed that CC or even some of it. I usually delete that save and start a new save. This way it removes all traces of the CC regardless if it's good or bad.
Saving the Sim families to the library keeps their traits, skill and career levels, but will loose relationship connections outside of the household.
You can fix relationship connections with Nraas MasterController:
To Fix Relationship -
From active Sim, select Nraas > MasterController > Intermediate > Long Term Relationship:
By Category > Homeworld > Select Sim from list > Select Status > Enter a set number of days.
They will also loose case count, for example if they are in the PI career.

Thanks, MrsFlynn. I'll definitely work on this because I can't play it as it is.
-
Hopefully the tips will help and you'll be able to play the game and enjoy it. :)
-
I thought I'd try some quick fixes first and they worked. I saved my sim and her house separately, bulldozed the lot, replaced the house and the sim and she went through her front door and is now eating pancakes for breakfast. Whew.
-
Yay!! I am happy to hear that worked for you!! :)
-
- LaPaige, Did you try resetting your Sims 3 folder? If so how did that help Riverview? Hopefully it's staying installed now?
-
Just did and Riverview showed up. I haven't checked yet to see how my sims fared.
-
Yay!! Hopefully that helps it stayed installed!! :)

I just wanted to reply to the one where your sim is "remotely" making pancakes. I had a sim do that once in my original ISBI go. The girl was way up in the front of the house "washing her dish" in the sink that was several feet away. It only happened once though.
-
I reset my game as MrsFlynn suggested and fixed the issue. However, I now have to rebuilt my relationships but I can use a MOD for that.
-
Yay!! I'm happy that worked!! I was hoping it would. :)
-
Spoke too soon. It's gone again. Union Cove is sticking though. :D
-
Rats I was hoping a new Sims 3 folder would help. It must be something within Origin that is making it uninstall itself. :(
-
I'm on Steam so I don't know if it's Origin or not. I don't know how all that works. Actually, it's only since I started playing on my new computer that it keeps dropping out. It was fine on my old one.
-
Ohhh *Blush* Sorry about that.
Hmm.. Steam shouldn't be doing that then. As I've always read that the Steam version is a lot more stable.
-
Well, it's been a morning. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rinse and repeat. It tells me it's already installed but it's not in the drop-down.
I decided to check the files to see what's going on. It shows up in the Sims 3 download folder with the green icon which allows me to launch directly. When I do that it's still not in the drop-down menu.
It wasn't showing up in install worlds so I moved that file over from the SD card I have it saved on. That didn't work either. So I have to play with it some more and hopefully getting it working again.
-
I am totally at a loss as to what to try. Have you tried searching the Steam forums to see if anyone else is having the same issue with their Steam version?
-
I have but the posts are really old and the "fix" link that was there leads to "page not found" - as did many of the other links found in other forums. I keep searching and keep coming up with the same old, same old.
I'm going to try resetting again and see what happens, but then I risk losing UC again.
Many posts mentioned that store items disappear as well and I've noticed that. When I open up the downloads dashboard, I see all the objects that I thought were gone. I hadn't realized that they were from the store and not TSR.
-
Copy your downloads and Saves folder to your desktop. That way you have the actual UC Sims3Pack file and your UC save file.
When you're finished creating a new Sims 3 folder. Add those folders back in. I've actually refreshed my Sims 3 folder a couple times over the last few days as I thought I was having an issue with the Sims 3 folder itself. It apparently was the save file that glitched.
-
Right. I will do that.
