I created this post in companion to my How To Create a New Sims 3 Folder (https://jadekitten.net/mfhot/index.php?topic=60.msg176#msg176).
I was thinking there maybe players who don't want to create their own new Sims 3 folder. They would rather download one, if possible. So, I put together a new Sims 3 folder complete with a mods folder setup with an Overrides folder that has the ContentPatch.package and ccmerged.package in it to help Sims 3 Store content work correctly. It also has a Packages folder, and an updated Resource.cfg file. With a ReadMe.txt file that can be removed.
There is No extra mods or custom content added except for the NoBuildSparkles.package and nointro.package in (\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\MTS)
Read this article (http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files) from SimsWiki for more information on the Mods folder setup I used.
✦ You can download the new folder here (http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2548728/) (from Simfileshare.net). Or from the attachment below post. (Updated: Apr. 2023)
~ How-to download and save the file:
Click on the file link to Save. If the browser you're using doesn't allow you to download because it's telling you that Simfileshare is unsecured, please try another browser or check your browser's security settings. For reference, I use Firefox. Read more here (https://simfileshare.tumblr.com/post/177449806649/security-warnings) about the SimFileShare Security Warning.
It's suggested to save to desktop for temporary and then later can be deleted or moved to backup drive.
~ How-to extract the file:
Extract the file with 7-Zip - https://www.7-zip.org/
Right-click File ➺ 7-zip ➺ Extract to The Sims 3
– This extracts everything into a folder with the name of The Sims 3.
~ Alternative methods:
Open File Explorer and find the zipped folder.
To unzip the entire folder, right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.
See more information here (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/zip-and-unzip-files-f6dde0a7-0fec-8294-e1d3-703ed85e7ebc) - Zip and unzip files
To use the new Sims 3 folder
1. Rename your original Sims 3 folder, so nothing gets overwritten. - Save files, mods, custom content will be safe.
To rename Right-click the Sims 3 folder and select Rename. Give it a name like old, for example.
2. Double-click the resulting Sims 3 folder that was placed on your desktop from unzipping it and move it to your Electronic Arts folder.
To move the folder Right-click the Sims 3 folder and select Cut and then paste it into the Electronic Arts folder.
-- \Documents\Electronic Arts
Once the old folder is renamed and the new one moved in, all should look something like this:
-- Click images to see larger view

Then you're ready to copy back some folders and files to get your game back up and running.
See this post (https://jadekitten.net/mfhot/index.php?topic=60.msg177#msg177) to see what files/folders to add back into your new Sims 3 folder.
