How-To: Save Sims From the SimBin:

1. Go to and click on the Options Menu (...) in the lower left-hand part of the screen with the dots and select Edit Town and click on the Create a Sim/Household button.

2. Click on the Pre-made Sims button (it's the button with the 6 Sims on it)

3. Click the asterisks * up in the right hand part of this menu. - This will show you all the custom content Sims you have saved to the SimBin. -- This includes Sims you've made and saved to the SimBin with out custom content on them.

4. Pick the Sim you want to Save/Export. Click on their photo to get them to show up by the mirror and click the checkmark. You can either click the Save Icon at the bottom of the SimBin Menu, like shown in photo below.

Or - click the (...) Options button under their photo and select the arrow with star attached (Share Sim button)

5. Give them a name and a description. Click the checkmark when finished.

Export Complete; click the checkmark to proceed:

Heading to the Household Library:

-- This saves the Sim from the SimBin to both the Households Library, and Exports folder.
In Household Library:

In Exports Folder: [Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Exports] - File can be found as a .Sims3Pack file

In the Library Folder: [Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Library] - File can be found as a .package file

If there are a lot of files in the Library folder you can either sort by date modified to bring your family's file near the top or look at the date/time of the .Sims3Pack file and then look for the file that has that exact date/time. - You can rename the file, right-click > Rename. Example Kennedy.package. Don't forget to leave the .package extension or it won't be readable by the game.
6. The Sim is viewable in the launcher.
Look in the Uploads Tab:

-- Tip: If you want, you can type out your Sim's Info in notepad for example and add it to the description box. By using Copy/Paste.
Hold the Left-mouse button down while dragging it over what you want to copy. Then Right-click, select Copy. Paste into the Description by pressing Ctrl V keys together.
✽✽ Note: The SavedSims folder can only read .sim files. So if your Sims are saved as .package files, they need to be copied into the Library folder. (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Library) They will show up in the household in Edit Town.
