Thank you for letting me know it's solvable.

I tried 2 or 3 different times before I gave up. It took me -forever- just to get the fishing part of it done. It says fish for 4 hours. I ended up fishing for 3 in-game days. I'm wondering if the case needs a high fishing skill.

Ah that's cool to know about the cases. Yep, I agree.

Even with all it's wonkiness I still enjoy playing Sims 3. And it's even more fun when playing it with friends. lol!! :)

Private Detective VJ
* Name: VJ Alvi
* A/G/T: YA Male Sim
* Sign: Scorpio

* Traits: Childish, Evil, Inappropriate, Perceptive, Snob
* Faves: Sushi, Indie Music and the color Red

* LTW: Pervasive Private Eye
~ Solve 35 cases on the job in the Investigator Profession

* More Info: Playing in "basegame" Twinbrook which has single rabbit hole buildings just like Sunset Valley. VJ begins the profession with level 10 Logic (profession's main skill), because I want to learn if it affects the type of cases he receives.
* More Info+: Charisma skill and Charismatic trait are very beneficial for this profession. VJ is not inherently charismatic, so he will just learn the skill.

*Notes:
- Playing with maxed out Logic seems to boost job performance meaning your Sim receives promotions quicker. The cases don't seem to change much, however.
- Interesting. Cases seem to pay out maximum from the beginning when starting the career with level 10 Logic. That is §650 per case.
- Profession level 3 is the earliest I've ever gotten a missing Sim case. With Miraj not even a single one.

VJ's Cases:

--- Eavesdropper, Level 1 - starter Investigator outfit

1. The Case of the Gnome Footsy
2. The Case of the Hacked Off Client

--- Small Claims Investigator, Level 2 - magnifying glass

3. The Case of the Missing Mouthwash (service reward)
4. Digging for Dirt

--- Superfluous Sleuth, Level 3 - Investigator's door

5. The Case of the Aloof Academic (missing Sim case)
6. Digging for Dirt
7. The Case of the Missing Mouthwash

--- Caper Crusader, Level 4 - fingerprint dusting kit

8. The Case of the Longing Heart
9.

Looks like I'm more patient - sometimes, it will take me 5 tries before the stakeout completes.

My Sim had 1 fishing skill point. It completed without issue.

I probably would have tried a couple more times, but I was already a little frustrated with how long it took to get the fishing part of it to complete. lol I literally went around to all the lakes and oceans around town.

Do you have any tips on that case?

Yes. When it says 'fish in pond' go fish in a pond, not the ocean. Lol, that sounded harsh - I mean, just follow the exact instructions. Fish for more than 4 hours if needed. Sometimes, the game doesn't count right.

Give stakeouts several tries and save before each try, because the case could cancel after a failed stakeout. Like my rogue cop case has done twice now. I did the Fishermen's case with Miraj, not Anna...just checked my notes. The stakeout at the diner succeeded on the 5th try. I recall placing Miraj behind the diner the last time instead of in the front - but still on the lot, mind.

I hope this helps :-\

Yes that helps!! Thank you!! :)

I just tried the case again, and it solved without a hitch!! Whoot!! That was with about 5 hours of fishing in the Ocean, as after that I remember (from previously trying this case) having to do a stakeout at the beach. The stakeout at local diner - smooth like butter lol.

When it says to fish, it doesn't tell you where to fish, it just says fish. That's one of the things that threw me off by this case. So I fished around the different ponds and such before it registered as finished.

Thank you!!

Now that we know where to find the case list, I should try the art heist case...  I dread that case, but I am really curious about it too. If I remember this one you were able to solve fairly smoothly?

Yep. Solved it with two Sims, actually. It is a lengthy one with many steps. But I had no issues.

I was able to solve the art heist case as well. Took me a few real life hours. lol But I did it!! You weren't kidding when you described it as lengthy.

I didn't even have to use DebugEnabler either. Which I thought was really funny. Why it took me so long is because It came in on Friday mid-morning and by the time I was ready to confirm criminal presence, it was Friday evening -way- after quittin' time at the Science lab.

I spent the weekend gardening and writing stakeout reports. :)
