Awsome - congrats! The "luck" of having to wait two whole days ;D

Since I just experienced a bump on the road, I wanted to share some advice...

VJ was to do the last part of a case - report findings - but the client glitched inside their home. VJ somehow couldn't reach them on the street or get a response if he tried to visit them. I then tried to reset the client's home lot which made the case bug out completely. It said that the client was no longer available, although he was still there, and VJ was to return home to complete the case which didn't work.

I make a habit of saving my game after each successfully completed step of a case. In this case, there was nothing left to do, but to quit game without saving. When I loaded the game up again, I used Master Controller to open the clien't home and he seemed to be fine. Then I had VJ 'report findings' and this time it solved smoothly.

Whenever something glitches - instead of cancelling the case altogether, try to simply go back a save. And only save after a successful step, not in the middle of something glitching.

That's a great tip!! I've been doing that more with Melani's game. Now that I know a little more about the career and where it might glitch.

It's when you're not sure or just don't know it's actually glitching. I've experienced both those. Something that I really like is if you're feeling stuck and not sure if the game is glitching or whatnot you can quit out the case and try again later. Or like you said, go back a step and try again. :)

Would this work for the rogue cop? How would you get the criminal sim to the courthouse though?

Sonshine: I don't understand the question, as I have never gotten to that step. All I can think of is, that if a Sim is not doing as they are supposed to, and you just saved, then you have saved too late in the process? :-\

I have run into my first seemingly unsolvable case. There were even two different outcomes of failure - what a treat. Let me know how this particular case solves for you guys?

Case: The Case of the Wayward Jalopy
Client: Cherish Curious
- Interview the client
- Question the target
- Snoop for clues on the beach
- Analyze tire tracks at the police station
- Conduct stakeout on the beach...FAIL

* Outcome 1: After failed stakeout attempts, the case cancels itself
* Outcome 2: The stakeout succeeds, exp is awarded, the case still cancels itself

Is it just me, or are beaches prone to make stakeouts fail? Possibly because it takes quite a while for Sims to get there, as it is not exactly (usually) a towncenter location?

The last time I got the Cop Gone Rogue Case I had to cancel it because of the last step in the case didn't complete, but that was with a different save.

I can try that one with my new save to see what I get for an outcome?

I'll try the Wayward Jalopy Case as well.

I don't know if beach stakeouts are prone to fail. I haven't had very many of them in new save with Melani so far.

I have noticed the random stakeouts I do to fulfill the stakeout want that I've pinned count when I've done beach stakeouts. But those seem to work slightly different then stakeouts that are part of a case. At least in my experience.

As for it taking awhile to get to the stakeout points or from point A to point B for a case, I don't think that matters as much ??  I'm not sure though. As it seems the game will setup as soon as your Sim gets to the lot if it's behaving correctly.

It matters. Sometimes, Sims arrive so late that the stakeout ends as they arrive or shortly after. I also read somewhere that it can mess up a stakeout :-\

That's actually good to know. As thinking about it more - that makes sense. That might be why some of my previous stakeouts have failed in my previous saves.

I'm not sure if there is a fix or work around for stakeouts that aren't near by.

I'm finding I'm not able to do either the Rogue Cop case or Wayward Jalopy case. Both cases give me a message of Unable to fulfill requirements for opportunity (Case Name). I went through DebugEnabler to find both cases.

XX. Cop Gone Rogue
Unable to fulfill requirements for opportunity EP2_Case_RogueCop1

     -----

XX. Wayward Jalopy
EP2_Case_MissingCar1
Unable to fulfill requirements for opportunity

Makes me wonder if this is happening because I don't have but Base game and Ambitions installed?  That maybe these cases come from different expansions and that's why they can't be fulfilled? Or maybe I don't have the correct lots placed?

Thoughts?

----

Edited to Add: (Aug.18.2023) some notes -

This error may happen because you're playing in:

1. An edited town/save where the lots were either placed or replaced from the library.
2. Rabbitholes were replaced, rabbithole rugs or doors were used.
3. Custom content town that may not have the lots and lot types needed for this career to be successful.

The Wayward Jalopy case did allow me to go through a couple of parts of the case, but after finishing at the police station for the Analyze Tire Marks, it just popped her out of the police station like it was done with the case.

That struck me as odd, so I tried the case again via DebugEnabler. That's when I got the message Unable to fulfill requirements for opportunity.

I decided to reboot my computer and try the case again. It gave me the message just after I selected it from the case list.

I searched on: Nraas DebugEnabler - Unable to fulfill requirements for opportunity

And got this:

I Can't Complete Some Career Opportunities
https://www.nraas.net/community/Opportunities#I-Can-t-Complete-Some-Career-Opportunities

Quote
These have not all been documented yet. Often opportunities can not be completed. Here's a couple of Tips:
Some could be genuine game glitches however these were supposedly reported as all being fixed in one of the patches. If you are still having problems completing an opportunity it could be due to the fact the lots, buildings on a lot or objects needed to complete the opportunity are not available. In some cases certain skills are needed for objects to become available. There are a couple of things you can do to be able to move forward in the career:

Try to identify what is missing in the game and add it to the game
Set the Opportunity as completed and move on to the next one

This helps confirm that it maybe missing expansion(s) possibly lot(s), objects needed to fulfill case or possibly needing a certain skill and skill level.

I don't want to enable all the expansion packs just yet. I'm still testing out the career with just base game and Ambitions. lol Though after this save that I'm working with now I'm still wanting to enable Pets to get a feel for the career in AP.
