~ Tips/Notes:Having a high skill in painting before getting into the profession is a good thing. Will help when it comes to renovating homes.
When client isn't home, do some of the renovation, then click on the floor of the home or click on the lot and select Tell Client Renovation is Complete.
Quickly cancel the action when the client arrives home, this will give you a chance to talk with them to get to know them and discuss the renovation. This helps in possibly getting a bonus.
- Get the Observant Lifetime Reward as soon as possible. This helps learn others traits faster.
Try to wrap the renovation up before 6pm or you will not get paid and game will consider it a failed renovation. You can't check back the next day. The game won't let you.
Check Map View to find jobs available between 8am - 6pm. Do not start to late in the day or else it will be considered a failed renovation if you run past 6pm.
Add items from the family inventory to the renovation. Be careful, this adds to the budget remaining money and may reflect negatively on the review if client is rich.
If you're not able to chat with the client about the renovation, look around the house at what you can copy/paste into the house. Do they have expensive taste? If yes, use that as your inspiration. -- Use the eye dropper tool to copy a chair, if that's some thing they're asking for.
Be mindful of the money used. Unless they have a tight budget, try to save between a $500 - $1000 of the budget unless you know they're rich.
If renovations are done for children or teenagers, be prepared to wait til school is out (2 - 3pm) to have the client look at what you've done. The job could take up to 7-8 game hours to complete.
Replace with slightly higher quality item if possible.
Swap out items they already have... This counts towards the list of items desired!!
Not worth picking up furniture in junkyard. The replacement value is more than the cost of buying new.
If you have a skilled handy Sim to do the work on broken appliances, it could be worth fixing.
Furniture found in dumpster diving is worth keeping or selling.
Click on design icon via Map View to see renovation info and accept or decline jobs from there.
Click on Front Door to Continue or Tell Client Job is Complete.
