Sometimes, you do things a little backwards, sweet MrsFlynn ;D Why look up a household's name on Google when you can just hover your mouse over the client or their house after the renovation?

I got 16 jobs done with VJ. 9 jobs was liked, 7 was hated. Good luck on reaching your goal! I'm cheering for you.

As for the photos you posted...what did you change? What was the job? It looks a lot like before I started doing my Bayless renovation. I believe Gwayne wanted a study. I moved some things around to make enough space for the required items ;D

I wasn't in game at the time and couldn't remember who's house that belonged to.

It was a Writing Room renovation. I did this job for them twice. Both terrible reviews.

1st time they wanted a stereo, living room chair, desk chair, desk, computer and maybe something else.

They wanted same items plus a coffee table in the 2nd Wring Room renovation, so I moved the living room furniture around so it could accommodate a bigger coffee table while still having enough room around it.

While doing the 2nd renovation for them I made the rooms bigger, moved some stuff around so they were easier to access and made the bedrooms in the "loft" bigger. So they'd have actual room to get to their new items.

I'm not entirely sure why the terrible review, but I'm happy with it. :)

For the most part I tried to keep with the same foot print of the original house. If you look closely, to the original and my renovation you can see what I changed. The loft hallway or whatever it's called is one square bigger than it used to be as well.

Awesome! Thanks for specifying :)

Your renos were so good and in tune with the original style, that I didn't notice them - ninja renos. Well done!

Don't listen to the Sims in this profession, listen to yourself <3

Thank you!! :)

The other job (s) I am really proud of are the ones I did for Robert Castor. - Castor family 32 Sweetwater Loop

I absolutely love their house!! I didn't realize they actually had a basement til the 2nd renovation I did for them. *Blush*

1st renovation was to give the house more windows and doors. So I replaced all the doors and added some windows. This is where I removed some walls and moved some walls to make the upstairs hallway a little bigger and so I could actually place the doors. As they just wouldn't place otherwise.

I didn't think to take photos of that renovation. But I was lucky enough to get a new request from him of a new Living Room Redesign. I was actually really happy to get the chance to do this renovation.

I added new couches and living room chairs, some lights all over the main floor. This is when I found the house had a basement. lol Added some paintings I had done over the weekend, some lights, a big screen tv, and new washer and dryer, counters and sink.

He loved it and gave me a good review!!

I did a renovation before for Lenny Smith-Jones - Jones-Brown family 4 Poker Flats Drive of a Gym addition. Basically adding gym stuffs to their house. Got a good review for that, but didn't get photos at the time.

I got a chance to do another renovation for him. This time for a Man Cave. New Tv, couch and some other things, can't really remember...  I liked the house, it's got a cute beachy-vibe to it. So I went with it and rearranged (living room and kitchen) and added extra things (around the house) that weren't on the list. As I was sure to get a good review.

Yeah... I got a terrible review. That really -really- shocked me. As I thought I did a pretty amazing job.

I did take photos this time anyway. :)

I've done 14 renovations and out of them I got 7 good reviews. AD Journal Update

Like Nindgo said, there is a lot of grind and very little reward in this career that for me it's exhausting trying to do your best in the renovation and then feel like you're getting slapped in the face when the Sim comes back with a terrible review. Takes the fun right out of it.

I admit I don't feel like I am good at designing homes = furnishing and decorating aren't my thing I'd rather build. lol   But I thought I did a pretty good job on at least some of the renovations I did. It did help to have just base game and Ambitions installed because if they had a higher end stereo, for example and wanted it replaced. All you could do is give them the most expensive stereo available. That actually helped.!! :)

And no.. We're not going to play Stylist... As it's pretty much the same as the AD career just in that you're doing makeovers on Sims. And yeah no..

I have more fun renovating Sims houses by using testingcheatsenabled on - shift-click on lot and select Build on Lot than I do trying to do the AD career. Same with stylist. Although with the Sim you click on them and take them into CAS to give 'em a makeover. They can't complain!! :)

I totally agree! Renos and makeovers using regular build mode and CAS is way more fun and satisfying - I'm going to stick to that ;D Sims are thankless beings. I really think their opinion of a renovation is decided by a die roll in the algorythm. And how desirable is that when you just put a lot of effort and thought into a job and the die tells the Sim to complain?

I might get stubborn at some point and try to reach level 10 in this profession, but...I'm going to have to steel myself first and find a bottomless well of patience within me somewhere.

Nevertheless, it's awesome to try all these Ambitions things out <3

I might save a save file from this go around with the AD career, but I am still not sure if I want to put myself through trying to get to level 10.  I know reviews get better and whatnot, but this playthrough of the career made me more anxious and I didn't like that feeling.

Plus there's the feeling like you've done an awesome job on the remodel and then getting slapped in the face with a terrible review... That don't feel so good.

Agreed. It is a very punishing profession. I guess the game has to have something for everybody :-\

Just read through this thread because this is the career one of my sims has chosen after he fulfilled his LTW. I like it because it's kind of my thing.
Good job on the renos MrsFlynn. I did a reno in the "swampy" house as well.
One of the things I noticed is that my guy ended up nicking his client's cars. Apparently this is a known bug but I ended up selling some pretty fancy cars so as a result, my sim ended up being quite wealthy. :D Being a klepto isn't even one of his traits.
Check you family inventories to see if you have picked up a car or two.

My new game sim is in the stylist career. It's the same type of thing. Clients either like the new look or they don't. I'm on the fence about continuing. I think today I'll go ahead and load up my saved games to my new computer and go from there. I can't do much else today since I'm stuck on the couch with a sore foot.
