Thank you. It started out as a test build for the garage and to make L-shaped stairs. The garage went just fine but there's no way I could make the stairs work. I will try again another day. I can get the stairs placed but as soon as I try to level the walls, it all messes up. I followed every tutorial I found and they make it look so easy so I'm obviously not doing something right. I have another I can try it on.

Just when I think I've got it, this happens. I give up. I've spent wayyyyy too many hours on this.

I'm not even sure if I understand how the constrainfloorelevation (true/false) build cheat works.

When I tried it (once or twice), both times it came out totally wrong and messed up other things I was trying to do with the house, so I gave up. Wasn't able to save the house I was working on because the cheat messed it up that bad. Seems like it's doing the same to your house.

Yup. That's one of the many tutorials I tried. I can't remember why it didn't work but some of them don't work properly in a corner. Maybe I'll try it again tomorrow. I can get the stairs to place properly but the walls end up wonky. I have some nice CC L-shaped and U-shaped stairs but they're all single. Most of the time I use single but sometimes I want to double it up.

I haven't tried it, but did notice the tip came from 2011, so it may be that EA patched out some ways of doing things without the building cheats.

But it's also like you said, it seems like some of these are hit and miss type of tips.

I tried it again this morning and discovered why I discarded it in the first place. What he shows looks great but what he doesn't show is how he actually uses it. I created a foundation around where I would like to place the stairs and placed corner walls. I cleared out the inside of the foundation and raised the terrain to where I wanted it. Placed some flooring on it and was able to place the stairs. However, I can't place a wall next to it and I can't place any flooring around it.

Using CFE, I was able to level the ground underneath, but it took the landing with it. Then using a frieze, I was able to create a landing but now you can't place walls around a frieze.

Conclusion: This was a whole lot more trouble that it's worth.

I've moved on. I might try something else later. Depends on whether or not I'm laying prostrate somewhere overcome with heat.
