Nothing wrong with basic. I don't recall much about TS2 I don't recall if that was where Bob and Betty Newbie started having a bunch of kids. I think I dropped out shortly after that.

Those are cute houses!!  I too like basic houses. :)

I remember some of Sims 2 that was my peanut butter and jelly until Sims 3 came along. lol

I remember creating worlds with Sims 4 to add to Sims 2. It's been so long since I've done that though I don't have any pointers on how to. I sadly don't even remember how to play Sims 2.
