I will be starting my build tomorrow. At the moment I'm trying to think of how to do the roofline. Most of it looks like it's Gable/Tall Gable and maybe Hipped Roof, but that tall square piece of roof in the front corner. I'm not sure how to go about creating that part.

I saved a copy of the photo and keep zooming in on it to see if it will give me some ideas on how to do the roofline. lol

As I keep looking at the photo it's making me excited to see how your build turns out, Lapaige!! :)

I've started laying out my foundation but it may need to be resized as I go.

I will probably make some minor changes to the interior layout as the staircases need to be accommodated.
I may use CC - https://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims3/id/1115099/
It's my go-to stair set.

I'm quite impressed with the fact that they put in a main floor power room. Quite forward thinking for the era (1912).
With a little research I was able to find a picture of the actual house as it was built. It's not as pretty in real life as it could have been but I suspect that over the years the porch was probably removed. I'm going to give it a new life as it should be. :)

I will probably use the stairs from the Sims 3 Store - Prism Art Studio.

I too had to tweak the foundations and walls as I went along. I've got the house shell built. Now am finding what windows, doors, arches, fencing/railing I want to use.

I'm taking photos as I go and will share them later.

Thank you for sharing a real-life photo. I too am keeping with the front porch. It's something that really grabbed my attention.

It definitely needs that beautiful porch. I have the lower floor rooms laid out but haven't started on the second floor yet. I'm looking at windows too. I need to get some light in the rooms so I can see what I'm doing. :D

I'm driving myself nuts with trying to figure out what to do for the decorative windows. The cute square window on the 2nd floor right side. Plus the ones for up in the "roof" part of the house.

The ones I have place at the moment aren't really doing it for me.  I've been able to pick out all the other doors, windows and "fencing/railing".

Haven't done any painting inside or outside, as I'm having a hard time coming up with a color for the outside walls.

I started out on a 20x30 (long lot). I felt like the house took up too much of that lot, so I moved the lot to a 30x40 (long lot). Looks a lot better on that lot.

As I was looking over the information on the house I saw that it had a excavated basement, and thought that might be where the stairs in the kitchen lead to. So that's where I added stairs to the basement.

It looks like there's a staircase to the attic on the 2nd floor ? I decided to skip that due to the roofline is too short for an attic, at least right now.  Still thinking on that. lol

Here's some photos:

Here's what my house currently looks like - without any makeup. lol

Scary huh? *Snicker*  Nah, I think even with not being sure about the decorative windows it's coming along nicely.  I am pretty pleased with it!! :)

That front porch roofline was a bugger to figure out how to do, but I think I did a pretty good job.  I ended up using Half-Gabled and Conical Roof pieces. That roof piece shows through the windows in build/buy mode, but not when you're in Live mode I've found. Thank goodness!!

For the main windows I'm using Square Slightlines Windows by Standard Issue. Cloned from University.

The small windows in the gable are MZ_ Warm Winters Window Short. Looks like they were cloned from University.

The 2-space arch way is cloned from University as well. Archa Omega Archway Elegance Asserted.

Fence/railing on the front porch is from Supernatural - Centennial Fence.

Doors, stairs and small windows in kitchen are base game.

Well done, you!!
I got sidetracked so I didn't get any more done this afternoon. Looks like I'm being reminded that I need to do some updates and clean-up on my computer. I'll have a bit of time now after I've done that so I'll work on my house for a bit before I have dinner. I was just working on windows when I had to quit. I hadn't decided if I was going to use in-game or CC. I have lots of CC but very few ex-packs.

Edited to add: I just realized it was after 6:00, not 5:00. So maybe after dinner.

I spent probably about an hour scrolling through the Windows on TSR and found a few sets from Mutske and downloaded them. None really fit the look I'm going for.

Do you have any suggestions?  What I am looking for is a window for the eve on the front gable and possibly a window to go on the side by the stairs on the 2nd floor.
