No, nothing like that. I've found that when I have furnished empty houses, random sims move in. This guy left a couple of chairs, an old dishwasher and a phone laying around in the yard. I check out the squatters and if I think they fit the neighborhood, I let them stay. Otherwise...bye-bye. :D

Sounds like that Sim has come alive and is doing things he is not scripted to do ;D

That's the first time I've ever seen that happen and I've had a lot of squatters. I certainly didn't put those items there. Unfurnished houses don't attract squatters so ideally I shouldn't furnish them until I'm ready to move in a household, but funishing is half the fun for me. Having said that, most of my recent builds haven't been furnished except the Duncan.

I'm sorry for the trouble. I don't know any tips to help. Other than maybe you could search on what attracts Sims to move in and not place those items untill you're ready to play?

I usually build/furnish in a temporary save.

Save lot to library and then place in my play-save when I'm ready to actually play.

Nindgo does have a point of if the lot or the place you have houses had a junk yard near it, it may still have junkyard spawners on the spot where the junkyard used to be.

To check that you'll need to turn testingcheatsenabled on and buy debug to see if any spawners show up. If there are, delete them - press Ctrl-Shift together, while having mouse over item and select Delete it. And resave the lot.

I think if there are beds on the lot, squatters will move in. I don't think there would be junkyard spawners there as the lot was an original residential lot in RV. I'm not concerned about it. Like I said, that's never happened but it could be related to the sim who moved in.
When I'm building, I save under the name I've given the build. Since I'm rebuilding RV, I've bulldozed all the pre-existing houses and most of the community buildings so I'm really not actively playing right now.

I went back to a previous save where he was still in the house so I could check him out. He's an unemployed young adult - Couch potato, party animal, good, nuturing, friendly.

He may be unemployed, but he's standing behind the till at the local hangout.

He's kind of cute. I might keep him. :D

Is that some sort of shop counter? If it is, the game has probably assigned him automatically. It does that.

Yes. He's hanging out behind the bar at a local hangout. I usually check to see what my "newcomers" are doing before evicting them and I don't remember seeing one behind a counter before.
I have a few venues where there are cash registers and I know they get randomly staffed but I don't remember any of them actually moving into any of the houses.

I'm replying in Sipping Tea since I feel my reply isn't quite on-topic of Nindigo's thread.

When testing my builds I use Static Needs. That way the Sims needs are stopped for the time I'm testing out the build.

You might already know how to do this?

- Turn Static Needs:

Prest Shift-Ctrl-C keys together to bring up the cheat console and type in testingcheatsenabled on.
Shift-click on the mailbox.
Make All Happy
Make Needs Static

Thank you for this Nindigo. We'll keep it in the Tips thread.  Now to find the other Festival lots links and add them to your post. :)

I think this belongs here, but I'm not sure. If not, then please do move it to a proper thread :)
