I wondered about that - if it would rain, earlier when I looked out the window. The clouds looked slightly grey. I welcome rain near or on 4th of July weekend. lol

All our Canada Day celebrations have been cancelled again this year. However, as of today in BC our Covid restrictions have all been lifted. Masks are still recommended but not mandatory.

We are suppose to have a fireworks ban but....

It seems like masks aren't mandatory over here either, however local businesses have the right to not let you in if you're not wearing one. It seems like the businesses are starting to loosen the mask rules.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks. It's a long weekend here and in the last year, holiday weekends resulted in an upswing in Covid cases. So now, with restrictions being lifted, it will be PARTY TIME!!

I always get nervous around 4th of July. Mostly due to careless people using fireworks and causing problems.

Last year was quite calm comparatively. Not sure what this year will bring. I'm hoping for a little calmness.

There's not supposed to be any fireworks here either but that remains to be seen.

I went to grab something from the fridge earlier today and heard some fireworks in the distance.

There are always some who are adamant about doing the opposite of what is recommended or even mandatory.

Restrictions have been almost fully lifted here as well. Young people now feel they have gone through a time of war and suffered unbearably from the lack of partying, so now they go all out and torture everybody else with their loud music and just generally by being piggy in public (and sometimes private) areas. And then they leave their mess to be cleaned up by others. I don't know what to say. I feel disappointed in this behavior, because my definition of having a hard time is very much different from theirs. I can't deal with the lack of consideration and not taking responsibility for their actions.

I'm glad you guys get to cool down a bit. The heat can be so debilitating. And when it's over, you just need to finally breathe, recuperate and clear up your head :)

I was sitting outside on our community sundeck last night and didn't hear any fireworks at all which really surprised me.

I hear exactly what you are saying Nindigo. It's a complete lack of respect. I know that it will be a free-for-all this weekend because summer vacation has officially started and people are traveling, gathering on crowded beaches, packing restaurants, etc so I expect to see a rise in Covid cases as well.

I watched a "live" Facebook video yesterday from someone in the cruise industry. He was at the London airport about to board his flight for the US because cruising was opening up and he was about to leave on one of the first cruises leaving from the US. But he was denied boarding and if I understand correctly, all flights from the UK to the US were cancelled because of a new strain on Covid that's recently hit the UK.

I don't appreciate the lack of respect in younger people either. I haven't heard any fireworks today yet... but it's still early. lol

I've read news stories abut the new strain. It sounds like one of the shots can protect against it? I'm not fully sure on that.
