I have the family merged but now I'm trying to figure out how to create a real relationship. But it's past my bedtime and I need to put my headache to bed now.

This is what I do (I've used this a lot):

Click on teenager -> Nraas -> Master Controller -> Advanced -> Family -> Add Parent -> Household -> Select both parents

Unpause the game for the change to take effect, then check the relationship - it should be there now. If not, wait a few more moments. It sometimes takes that for the game to register the change.

But now, what's worse, is that I downloaded a bunch of CC from my downloads list and now my store stuff is gone again. It had all been going so well. Now I have to track down what I added and delete it to try and get my store suff back. Grrrr. I have to go grocery shopping and I promised myself I would bee at the store by 11:00 and here I am, at 11:00 fussing over this.

Ah... I'm wondering if it might be something to do with having more than just MasterController installed. I have MasterController, MasterController Cheats and MasterController Integration installed. Maybe having all of them installed is what allows us to set parent(s).

Have you tried the tip I recently shared to get the game to recognize your store stuff again? You can see the tips in this post.

You need the Master Controller Cheats module, LaPaige. Integration is not needed.

Edit: Maybe you should hold off a bit with the CC. Especially if you're on a lower end computer. The Sims 3 is not the most stable game and if you fill it with tons of store stuff too, something is bound to go awry.
