I moved this thread to the general Tea Room thread. It's where I meant to put it in the first place. Derp...

Uh...no. I didn't realize I had to be. That's why the whole thread seems to have disappeared. Ho, boy. Derp abounds! Yeesh.  :o

Actually, now that I think about it, I didn't "move" it. I removed it and thought I'd started it up again in the Tea Room.

Ah that makes sense. I've seen random Sims pop into my save even though I don't have story progression on and tourists turned off.

It leaves me scratching my head.

Yes, the ghosts. I checked options and there's nothing for ghosts. It's actually night time but I was in edit mode so I had daytime turned on. Since they are close to the cemetery, I guess they were out for a midnight stroll. As long as they're not bugging anyone, they can stay. :D

I have story progression turned off as well but that doesn't stop the squatters from occupying my empty furnished houses. From now on I'm not going to furnish them until I have someone ready to move into them. I always check them out before I evict them just in case I like them and want them to stay.

Lapaige,

I'm baffled as to why your save is moving random Sims into houses if you have EA's SP turned off. I've never had that happen in any of my saves that I have non-occupied furnished homes in. They all stay not occupied unless I add a Sim or family into them myself.

You may want to check that option. Specially if you've started a new save recently. As every new save has their own game settings that you have to look over and set.

Do you by chance have Nraas SP installed? If so, I am not able to help with that, but Nindigo might be able to help with some of it.

Yup. SP is off. I don't have Nraas SP either.

I wondered if it had to do with people moving in to take the jobs requiring cashiers, etc but the majority of those who move in are unemployed. The last one I evicted was actually a firefighter.
It's no big deal. As I said, if it's someone interesting, I'll keep them. :)

I just tried to create an Asian couple to move into one of my houses. I don't know if I did a very good job of it. Maybe tomorrow I'll post pix to get your opinion.

Now I need to try and get some sleep. I was in bed earlier but just tossing and turning so I gave up. But now I'm hungry. Maybe some toast and tea will be helpful.

The game's native story progression setting needs only rechecking if your game folder is new. It is ticked (enabled) by default. LaPaige, I also suggest double checking your setting.

When you hover your mouse (not visible in the picture) over the story progression option, this explanation pops up. If story progression is disabled, townie Sims do not move into empty houses. Nothing I have ever played with in terms of mods and CC, save for the NRaas Story Progression mod, has ever interfered with the game's native story progression setting.

Thank you so much for the SP tip reminder and the confirmation that SP stays turned off even with starting a new save file.

I check my options every new save, but also again if I feel something is off.

I linked the tip in our Tips thread. :)

If I understand correctly the game will add service Sims to the save, to help man the cash registers, that's true.

I'm kind of wondering if it spawns unemployed Sims as well to then help with the cash registers later on. As it takes a bit for the save to get set up.
