I normally don't play Sims 3 with the sound on, so I haven't heard the haunted melody for awhile now but from what I remember it is obnoxious.

I find most sounds obnoxious so I too keep my sound low.

I added:
Depending on what packs you have installed, you may need to select the More option on the computer to find the Join Pattern Club and Buy Patterns options.

If these options aren't showing up on your computer, you may need to reset the object, lot or replace laptop. The options not showing could happen if your family has a computer on the lot before getting the sewing machine.

As I was testing mods, custom content and what was making my saves stutter I took out the Smooth patch, more as a process of elimination as part of my troubleshooting steps. Added it back in as soon as I figured out what the problem was. (Too many mods and CC)

Anyway, I wanted to share some notes I put together about the Smooth patch, as there's still a lot of players having problems with it. I added the notes here to the first post.

I've had it running since July 2021 and has really improved the overall gameplay.

Really losing it here. I can't even remember how to get into my program files to see if I still have it installed. I swear my brain is getting worse every day. Too tired tonight to do anything with it. Two nights of little sleep doesn't do me any favors.

A how to install is in my notes that I shared. Here it is for reference.

Installation of Patch:

Copy/paste the files it provides into into - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. (Default install path)
- This may be different depending on where the game is installed.

 – For Origin the zipped file provides these files: TS3Patch.asi; TS3Patch.txt ; TS3PatchLauncher.exe

 – For Steam/Disc the zipped file provides these files: ddraw.dll ; TS3Patch.asi; TS3Patch.txt

Origin users, launcher the game with TS3PatchLauncher.exe

Launch the game as you normally would -- If you have the Steam/Disc version.

Thanks, but I got that. My problem last night was that I couldn't get to the first step - how to get into my files. I simply could not remember where to find them. No problem this morning. My brain seems to be functioning today...so far...

The zipped file was in there but it had never been unzipped. So, I just unzipped it, changed the Debug to 1 and loaded the game. A "patched" message came up when I loaded the game, which I assume was supposed to happen. We'll see what happens. I'll report back later.
