I'm happy that you were able to get things worked out.  Yes a patched message is suppose to show when you start the game, when you have the Smooth Patch installed and change the Debug option to 1 in the TS3Patch.txt file.

I did a quick test run but didn't see a whole lot of difference. I wish there was a good fix for the camera but from what I'm reading, it's not likely. I've installed the one that MrsGoodwrench offered but it didn't help either.
I got a very late start today. I took an antihistamine when I went to bed last night and as a result, slept for 9 hours and woke up late.
Then my neighbor called to ask me about Amtrak schedules/fares so I worked on that for a bit and printed out the information for him, but my printer wouldn't work (it's been a while since I've used it). Uninstalling, reinstalling, diagnostics, troubleshooting, blah, blah, nothing worked. Finally I just went and unplugged it for 30 seconds and it worked just fine. Next time I'll do that in the first place.

I'm sorry the Smooth Patch isn't working for you. I notice a difference mostly in CAS and Build/Buy modes. It seems to help loading to the save as well.

I've tried to test one of the camera mods and it didn't do anything that I could tell. Looking at it's description again, it looks like it's a camera mod that works in tab mode. -

I haven't gotten a chance to see if it works as I haven't done much with my save today.

The 3rd camera mod is a CAS camera mod. I won't be testing that one, as it definitely won't help with camera movement in Live mode.

I really haven't had a chance to give it a good test drive so the jury is still out. I've just been doing a bit of fixing here and there.

I had the camera mod (second one you mentioned) but I don't have it now it seems. I must not have reinstalled it when I had to reinstall the game. I've got it back in now so we'll see if there's a difference.

I installed the camera and after a while I deleted it. It seemed to make things a lot worse in build mode. I know it specifically says Live mode but I don't have a lot of issues with that.

Ah okay. I wasn't sure at first either with the Smooth Patch. As part of my test I removed the patch files and checked a test save and was surprised at the difference.  I put it back in afterwards. lol

Thank you for giving confirmation that it's in build mode that you're having camera issues. I wasn't sure and was meaning to ask.  I don't think they have a camera fix for build mode. At least I haven't found one.

That's ok. I don't mind the refresher. However, lagging isn't my issue. At least I don't think of it as lag.
It just seems like it's out of control. I'll zoom in and it will keep zooming until I'm looking at a single shingle. I'll zoom out and it will keep going until I can almost see the whole town. Or I'll be working on a particular area and when I want to get closer up or down, or sideways, it won't stay on that spot. It jumps higher, or lower or too far right or left.
Today I was trying to place corbels around the roofline of the house I'm working on and the camera was just free-wheeling. I ended up with a sky full of corbels because I kept losing them.

It's kind of hard to explain so I don't know if you'll be able to figure out what I'm talking about.

I haven't experienced the issue where I'm trying to zoom out and it zooms to view almost the whole town. However I have experienced the camera jumping around when I'm trying to get a close up look at something. I'm not sure why that happens. I'm not sure if there's really a fix for that.

And that trying to place corbels... Ugh I gave that up after I was done trying to edit your Townsend house. lol  As I couldn't ever get them to place right. Though I was able to get one of them back in place but the other two I wasn't. I ended up just undoing what I had just tried.

Yeah, they are a pain for sure. I tried using that roof piece again that shows the rafters under the roof but it didn't work any better than it did before.
This house I'm doing is a big one so there are a lot of corbels. I finally got most of them where I want them but it took a good hour or so and at times I was ready to yell because I was getting so frustrated.
The real house has the rafters (LOL!! I just typed farters) under the roof and I really like the look so that's why I used the corbels. I have the outside finished so I'll post some pix tomorrow. It's looking really good.

I have been there - where I want to yell because I'm so frustrated with building. At that point. I just save the file and go back to it later.

Is this the start of the house you're working on?

I've been meaning to ask how it's coming along. When I first saw it I was like I really want to try my hand at building it, but was in the middle of working on something. Now I'm done with that something and might try building it.

Or are you working on a different house?
