Thanks, it's good to be back. I never meant to leave <3 It's just that sometimes, my chronic joint pains get the better of me, and I have to take a longer break from gaming. This time around, it was really bad, so I'll have to be careful not to overuse my fingers.

(When I am AWOL sometimes, it is either because I play other games and/or have pain issues)

Internet Explorer the browser got retired a few days back or so. Now there's some Sims 3 players complaining that they can't play the game anymore or Login to the launcher.

I play the original disc version and have had no problems with the launcher or logging into EA's website to download store content. Installing .Sims3packs via the launcher is no problem either if/when choosing to install them that way.

I must confess, I don't login to the launcher or Sims 3 to play. You don't need to log into the launcher to play the game. I don't think that's a requirement on Steam or Origin either.

It has been said that you can use Microsoft Edge to help clear IE's cookies and browsing cache if needed.  So I'm not sure why players are blaming IE?  Unless I'm missing something?

What's your experience?

I haven't used IE for years. I use Chrome and don't use the launcher to log in. Clears caches just fine.

Not a fan at the moment of Edge, for no particular reason. :D I'm just used to Chrome.

I haven't used IE the browser for years either.  I use Firefox, but this isn't really about what browser you use to browse the web with.

I should have put this in my post above.  It's my understanding that Sims 3 launcher uses parts of IE to function. With Internet Explorer being retired some players are complaining it's because of IE that the launcher isn't working. That really isn't the case, as far as I've been able to tell.

Use Edge to clear browser cache and cookies and that should clear up issues with the launcher.

If I recall, and don't trust my brain these days, I but I though that some of the store stuff needed IE. At least that's the message I got a few times when I tried to d/l something. But that was a while ago and my brain... well, you know... :D

I don't think so. IE is more web/internet related.   Sims 3 Store content doesn't have anything like that. Once it's downloaded and installed you can play offline and be just fine.
