Too funny. My husband had a pair of yellow striped pants in the 70's (hipppy fashion - in fact, I got more wear out of them than he did.). I'd call those "pants of joy".
Funny story. About that same time he grew out his hair and grew a beard. That was pretty "out there" f or him due to his strict upbringing and the fact that he was just starting work at IBM which was pretty straight-laced at the time.
He had a lot of aunts and uncles who were quite vocal about his long hair and beard.
One day one of the aunts saw his girl cousing downtown in bare feet.
the lament? Oh no! Now we have two hippies in the family!
I can only imagine what they thought of me. I was 18, I lived on my own, I was a bleached blonde and I smoked. Not at all the sweet church girl his mother had in mind for him.
