[Info.] Issues w/Store, CC/Mods and/or Any .Sims3Pack Files

I haven't been able to download anything today.

Clicking the download links simply doesn't do anything.

Is it the same for you guys, or is it my end of things?

Hmm.. I tried the Exchange the other day without issue, but haven't checked the Sims 3 Store side of things since a little earlier this year. Let me give it a try and I'll post back with results.

Edited to Add:

The Sims 3 Store (https://www.thesims3.com/home.html) website seems to be working for me. When I go to download anything from the store or exchange for that matter, I create a new Sims 3 folder for easier troubleshooting/testing.

Sims 3 - How To: Create a New Sims 3 Folder - With Photos

I don't add anything back to the new folder. Just use it strictly to help download whatever I'm after from the store or exchange.

I open the launcher and then log into the store or exchange. I find it easier and faster to open the launcher first so the launcher is ready to download whatever it is you want to download.

If you have links to what you want to download ready, go ahead and use them to get the items. Click the Downloads button on the Store set or item page and for Exchange items, click the add to game button.

Here's a few things I just downloaded for my test: -- These files downloaded fine. :)

– May need to make sure to allow the store to open Sims 3 links. It will open the launcher and start downloading the .Sims3Pack file(s).

If for some reason you can't get store or exchange items to download, or get the Don't Own Item "bug" close the launcher and try either a different browser and/or clear your browser cache.

How to Clear Your Browser's Cache
https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache

Don't forget to clear Edge and IE's Browser Data:

The Sims 3 launcher uses parts of Internet Explorer to work, so clearing Edge and IE's browser data can help with launcher issues such as website issues, downloading and installing store content and issues with exchange downloads.

View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/view-and-delete-browser-history-in-microsoft-edge-00cf7943-a9e1-975a-a33d-ac10ce454ca4

If your password contains any special characters, it's a good idea to change your password.  The launcher doesn't do well with some of those, for example & or !.  This is the case even when the password works fine on other EA sites.

Additionally, go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads and delete the file labeled [your email].bin. if you have it.

Odd. So it is my end as usual. I feel like a complete failure ;D

Why do I have so much trouble and seemingly always? Everyone else just have cruising Sims 3 experience!

The funny thing is, I already have store content in my folder which downloaded just fine a week ago or so.

But now? I may have looked at the website or launcher funny and it won't work anymore.

Okay, I will try and act my age now...no guarantee it will work though :P

I will try to download again today using that method. Maybe today is different in some way.

Update

Today is different somehow. I can download normally from the store again no problem.

Why? I have changed absolutely nothing; it is simply a different day.

Please don't feel like a failure. There's a lot of players that report issues with the Store/Exchange from time to time. One of the reasons could be a network error somewhere in between you and EA's servers.

I'm happy it's working for you again!! :)

Thank you :)

I wanted to play a bit in Roaring Heights with my childless couple and see what it is like there.

I do feel bored with Appaloosa Plains even though I like the place. I'm pondering a grand move.

Today, I have been so tired and exhausted. Messing around in RH is probably all I can manage.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. My day was yesterday (bad headache). I hope you feel better soon. Also, like MrsFlynn said, don't put yourself down b/c of an EA error!! It happens to all of us from time to time.

Thank you, Sonshine <3

Unfortunately, I have some chronic illnesses that drain me of strength and energy. Some days are just worse than others.

I'm really glad the store is working for me again :)

Sorry to hear you are unwell Nindigo as for failing at The Sims 3 Store ... well do I have a story about that lol.  Years ago I made a TS3 Store account, set it up with a gmail account and bought most worlds, sets...you name it, a lot of stuff. Then got distracted with ts4, eventually hopped back into TS3 and low and behold I was locked out of my store account.

The gmail account had been wiped (no idea how but perhaps because I literally never used it lol) and so now I have only the downloaded copies of my original TS3 store content that should it ever corrupt etc I can never get back unless I repurchase it all again. An epic failure by any standards  ;D I have repurchased some items but only a tiny fraction of what I originally purchased. *shrug* Have to laugh as this is quite a common theme with me..losing passwords, access...etc.  ::)

I'm so glad to hear from you, Play! I thought I had offended you beyond forgiveness by going AWOL for the longest time. /drama

Well, I was concerned at least.

Wow, that store story of yours is pretty epic in a disastrous way. But you are right, there is really nothing else to do but to laugh it off.

I forget about my gmail account as well, by the way.

Hopefully, I will get to play with my store things sometime later today. I didn't get any sleep tonight because of joint pain and have a doctor's appointment in a few hours.

omg never offended by anyone let alone you Nindingo! Life just got in the way and time got used up in other areas.

You'll have already been to your Dr's appointment by now so I hope you have pain relief and are feeling much better.

This made me snort-giggle...yeah *nods* Can't really deny it!!

Gotta say, I'm feeling so motivate to dive into TS3 after reading everyone's posts and comments.
