MrsFlynn, I'm going to also suggest that you try a playthrough of this profession with only basegame and Ambitions. Those annoyances you describe also haunt my game regularly when I have everything installed. Which is why I loathe to play like that. I feel it improves my experience when playing with just a few enabled.

I have a question; Is it normal to not get any cases at lev 5? She's gone 3 week days and one weekend now w/NO cases at all. The only option I have on the police dept is "low level police work."   :(

That definitely doesn't sound right.

Are you trying to let the game give you cases or you getting cases from the computer/police station?

Ooooh wait, you mentioned earlier you were playing in Appaloosa plains, right? As now that I'm thinking on it, that happened to me first playthrough in AP. I ended up getting Yasmine a laptop to help with getting cases. As the combo buildings are a little buggy like that. In my experience.

You might try placing a single police station on a different lot to see if that might help. I didn't try that when I was in AP.

I had just thought of this that the combo bldg is probably interfering. I'll try the method of placing a single police station and see if that works.

From what I understand it's best to leave the combo building until after you've placed the single rabbithole. I haven't tried either but am curious if placing a single rabbithole building works.

Where you feel best about playing. Since both towns have single-building rabbitholes, I don't think it matters that much.

I'm going to "investigate" this as well. On the side-side of things. Since I love AP.

Aw Thank you, Nindigo!! :)

I'm more comfortable in Sunset Valley, but that's because I'm more familiar it. lol

If you find anything please do post about it. I did enjoy my "visit" to AP and hope to visit again.

I hate to blame rabbitholes for all the glitches. I really don't think it's fully the rabbithole's fault. It maybe partly the opportunity that ends up happening at a rabbithole.

Investigator Miraj in Appaloosa Plains

*An investigation of how good or bad the Investigator profession integrates in a town with combined rabbithole buildings.

*I play with just the basegame, Ambitions and Pets installed.

*I moved Miraj and his spouse into a starter home located at 71 Rachelle Lane, and had him join the Investigator profession right away via the cheap computer, I gave them.

*First case was called in at 10:23 AM on the Sunday of game start. That's way quicker than in any of my other saves.

*An observation: It feels like the case generating algorhythm is struggling a bit to find suitable case candidates among AP's residents.

Cases by Phone Call

1. The Case of Gnome Footsy
Client: Oriole Bird
This very first case interestingly involved a homeless townie who is employed by the game as the local Stylist. Miraj was asked by the client to search through the target's trash. This posed a challenge, because homeless townie are exactly that - homeless. But, as you probably are aware of, the game directs homeless townies to different lots when they go home. It can be an empty lot or an unoccupied house that becomes their unofficial home. In this case, the townie has been "assigned" to such an unoccupied house, and the case wanted Miraj to search the trashcan on that lot. The magnifying glass icon was there as it should be. Butt, since the townie target is technically still homeless, Miraj did not get the option to search the trash when I clicked on the trashcan.

Solution: Having NRaas MasterController installed, I clicked on the house and added the townie target to it. Now, he actually and officially lives there. That solved the issue. Miraj was now able to perform the search.
*I don't think the issue can be solved the slow way without the use of this mod. It would involve some manual labor like getting to know the townie and asking them to move in, then splitting the household, etc. And that would most likely cancel the case.

2. The Case of the Hacker Elite
Client: Hetty Lionheart
This one was called in about 36 hours after the first one around 10 PM or so. Solved smoothly.

3. Hacked!
Client: Jazlyn Parrott
Called in the following day in the early afternoon. Solved smoothly. Service award for solving 3 cases.

4. The Case of a Little Dirt
Client: Felipe Marshall
Next door neighbor case. Solved smoothly.

5. The Case of Gnome Footsy
Client: Kim Marshall
Again, the target was a homeless townie assigned to a vacant lot. I had to properly move her in there using MC, before Miraj was able to search through her trash. After the case was closed, I moved her into an actual house.

6. The Case of the Longing Heart
Client: Hailey Shepherd
No homeless Sims this time. Solved smoothly.

7. The Case of Gnome Footsy
Client: Patricia Bedlington
*Groan* No homeless Sims. Solved smoothly.

8. The Case of the Aloof Academic
Client: Alouette Bird
Alright! This was a missing person case. Miraj was sent to two different combined rabbithole buildings - school/stadium and hospital/science facility. And you know what? They solved smoothly. No problems whatsoever. So, it can work.

9. The Case of the Missing Pink Feathers
Client: Johnny Johnson
The case Bye Bye Flamingo by another name. Solved smoothly.

10. Hacked!
Client: Gavin Pinkerton
Gavin crushed on Miraj. Smooth sailin'.

11. The Case of the Snail Mail Jam
Client: Booker Singleton
Solved smoothly.
