Fixing Custom Content Patterns in .Package Format (Basics)
« on: December 30, 2022, 08:08:11 PM »
When converting patterns from .Sims3Pack files to .package files the patterns need to be given new instance numbers, so each pattern has their own ID number and so they don't look like they're showing up as duplicate/triplicate or blank-white patterns in CASt. Or run into the Materializing Materials Error.

  1. Open the package file in S3pe.

  2. Double-click on _IMG tag that has the instance that starts with 0x7ED...

  3. Tick Use Resource Name and give it a name.

  4. Click the FNV64 button to give the pattern a new instance number. (Click again if need a new number)

  5. Copy the new instance number and click OK.

  6. Right-click on the _XML tag that has the type 0x0333406C and open in notepad.  Find the number 7edd20633162e6ce and replace it with the new Instance ID.
  ✽ – Look for the line <param type="texture" name="Background Image" default="key:00b2d882:02000000:7edd20633162e6ce"

  7. Click X to save the file and yes to commit Changes.

  8. Click File Save As or Exit the program to save the fixed pattern.

-- TIP: Take out special characters in the name. Check to make sure the name doesn't show the special characters or spaces in the reskey line in both _xml files and PTRN files or it could cause the materializing materials error, pattern duplication or crash the game. Using the - (minus) sign and _ underscore  should be okay.

Wanted to share a screenshot of the fabric patterns showing up in CASt, in the first row. :)
