Well, cockroaches will appear from time to time. You can have your Sim stomp them, but the maintenance staff will also do this. Sooner or later. Keep in mind that reviews are written by non-existing Sims. The rating, review, and reviewer's name are all randomized and don't even fit together at all times. A review mentioning bugs is probably a standard thing if cockroaches have been present on the resort lot during a day.

I had a feeling the reviews were posted by non-existent Sims. Although, you never know, I see the Altos and Bachelors there quite a bit. So they might be writing the reviews. I think it's randomly generated like you mentioned.

I never see any bugs while I am watching the lot, so they must be coming out while I'm not watching. lol

It does take the maintenance workers awhile to cleaning up stuff I've noticed.  I'm not sure what to do about that, if there's really anything that can be done. I tried to have 3 medium maintenance workers and the game wouldn't let me?

I suppose I could try a high maintenance worker, but wonder if that would make any difference.

Odd observation...

I was watching the Sims visiting my resort and noticed when they (a hand full of them) arrived, they go to the last cottage in the back left instead of to the lobby/front desk.  Do you notice that happening when you're playing the Salty lot?  This has happened a few times when I get a big group of Sims coming to the lot.

I notice with building a resort we're allowed to pick front of lot, but not front door. Unless I'm missing something?

-- Edited to Add: ... A few hours later... lol

I think I was able to fix it!! I sent my Sim home and did some testing. I deleted all the doors from the cottages and the lobby. Added doors back to each of the cottages first. Then last I added doors back to the lobby.  Had my Sim come back to the lot and she went straight for the lobby.

I'll be testing it further as I play, to be sure. :)

Tip for renovation:  If replacing doors. Replace the lobby doors last. So the guests will go straight to the lobby when arriving at the lot.

Well, the cottages in the Salty Springs lot are not needed to run the resort - Sims are using them, sure, but only the resort tower is actually needed.

I want to point out that a lot of Sims 3 gameplay and features are bugged and sometimes heavily. There is no reason why this shouldn't be true about Island Paradise as well. The world itself runs extremely poorly and becomes unplayable after a while - even with the route fix mod and whatnot. And also, when all packs are enabled, there is a much greater likelihood of getting script errors, and the game just getting things messed up.

The only other pack I have played with in this resort project is Pets in one save - restricted to a few pets in my played household only. This is intentional, because I want to know exactly what features the pack in question has. If I played with everything enabled, there is a risk I would get confused and be unsure of what came from what pack.

I believe it is important also to note that no packs are depending on any others to function. All packs are purely optional and only require base game be fully experienced.

Resort note:

Maintenance crew apparently have a Fun need and will use the resorts features to fulfill it. During work hours. And they will prioritize fulfilling their Fun need over doing their duties.

And yes, that means that a maintenance worker has lost their life in one of my saves, because I don't tolerate them watching TV while bath tubs, sinks, and toilets are broken and flooding my resort guests' rooms.

Another resort note:

The resort tower acts like the actual hotel in a resort. A seperate beach bungalow can be found in the build mode resort category. I don't know yet its function - if placing one or more adds to the overall guest capacity, or if it can be used alone like a mini-resort. Clicking on it will give the same pie menu as the resort tower, and room service can be switched on/off. It cannot be upgraded, however. It looks identical to the two bungalows that the beach resort tower consists of before upgrading it.

Yet another resort note:

Unplayed kids and teenagers will still attend school during a resort stay and come back there instead of going home. They will also do their homework at the resort.

Aggie is perpetually sad what with her grumpy trait, and the fact that her husband-to-be went and drowned. I had him exhumed from her frontyard, though. He is now resting in the cemetary instead. Because I dislike having ghosts around, breaking all the plumbing.
