I am using a house I built called Finley, as shown earlier in the thread and a Sim named Vanessa.

Playing in Sunset Valley, of course. lol

This is my first time playing this profession, so it's going to be a little bumpy.

Had what I thought was a rough start at first, but got it figured out. Got Daycare Profession offered on Day 2 - Tues. Week 1. Daycare - Amateur Babysitter. You may not get toddlers dropped off right away. Look for them to come the day after you accept the profession at around 9am. Be ready for stinky toddlers that need changing and fed. hehehehe

I moved in Aria to help out.

-- You can't direct the toddlers to play with the peg or xylophone, however you can still play with them with either object if they choose to play with the object. They don't seem to skill up with the objects.

You can teach talk/walk and does gain skill!! Yay!! -- And does gain you "points" on the report card.  It helps you gain job performance. Playing with the peg/xylophone does? -- I'm still questioning this one, but have them out so the toddlers can play with them anyway, regardless if it helps gain job performance or not.  I like having things for the toddlers to do. :)

Wk2-D2 -- I'm on the clock, but no toddlers. After having a few in-game days off.  Wonder if this could be because I did a Reset Everything the day before W2-D1? (and also saved the game.) Going to keep playing to see what I get for W2-D3.  This might also be because I'm not friends with the parents of the toddlers?  I read that might be a cause. I am still Lv1 Amateur Babysitter.

Hmm.. We get to W2-D3 and the game says I have today off?? Not sure I believe that. I wanted to take a screenshot to show that I'm about a little under halfway-ish to leveling up.  -- Today (W2-D3) is Leisure Day. That's why I have it off. *Smacking Forehead*  Derp.

I do notice that I don't know one of the parents at all. The other parent does show up as an acquaintance - I did meet them at the festival and nice introduction or something like that. I haven't done that with the other parent. *Blush*  That still doesn't explain why neither of the toddlers were dropped off yesterday.

Wk2-D4 -- On the clock, but no toddlers again (2nd day of this happening). Not sure what to make of it other than not knowing the parents of one of the toddlers?  Or this profession is -that- glitchy.  If tomorrow (Wk2-D5) is still no toddlers. I've got a few choices to try as part of troubleshooting.

1. Quit and join profession again.
2. Reset Town/Evict or Move Household and move 'em back in.
3. Add more families with toddlers into town.
4. Befriend the toddlers and their parents, even if need to cheat - Do this as a test if desired.

Wk2-D5 - Third day no toddlers.  Added in some pre-made families with toddlers from the library. - freerealestate on totally rocks!! :) Not sure if that will help today, but it should for tomorrow.  I'm also moving the family, bulldoze the house, replace it and move them back in. I wasn't feeling all that confident that adding families and moving really helped, so I quit the job and was able to join back up again. I'm hoping all of this helps. Quitting and rejoining wiped out my job experience progress, I figured it would.  I still have friendships with the toddlers and that counts.

Game says it's getting close to a few days off. So  I might not get to see if this all helped till next Monday. And it's Thurs in-game right now.

Interesting.

Here is where I'm stuck:

Jasmine applied for the daycare profession on a wednesday. The next day, thursday, was Leisure Day. It is friday now and the game says that work starts in three days. So, I haven't gotten anywhere at all yet!

However, last time i played the profession, there didn't seem to be anything malfunctioning. Therefore, I'm yet hopeful. If work doesn't start on monday in-game, I will have her quit and re-apply.

Thank you so much for posting an update!! I felt like I was going crazy last night. I finally had to say, I'm done for the evening. lol  I'll jump in-game here in a bit to see if I get anywhere after my Sim takes some days off.

W2-D6-Fri. - 3 Days off. Waiting it out and hope Monday brings in Toddlers. lol  I'm not trusting that red circle. It throws me off.

W3-D2-Mon. - Parents drop off toddlers!! Yay!! Troubleshooting tips paid off!! Now we'll see if we can keep this ball rollin' for a few more days!!

It looks like you can teach walk and talk, but you don't need too. If you have high free-will your Daycare Sim(s) seem to take care of the kids for the most part. It does seem to have to do some actions to make sure toddlers are fed and diapered.

It is nice to have a helper, specially if you have more than one toddler/kids, you can setup actions for the other Sim to help with the other toddlers  when main Sim is busy taking care of one.

Whoot!! The report says we did a good job!!

Looks like you can't interact with the parents or Sims who drop off and pick up the toddlers/kids?  If that's the case, that's somewhat of a bummer.   More interaction you can do with the parents or Sims who drop off and pick up I would think the better it would be for job performance?

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to combine this with the other shell challenge build. I've finished my house and loaded in necessary child care objects and have a new sim who actually got the daycare profession right away.

This is Debbie - She's neat, friendly, charismatic, nurturing and has a good sense of humor. We'll see how that goes. :D

So she just moved into her new house and it's pouring rain. Then the mascot showed up. I've been reading how to get rid of him but I can't figure it out. :(

Mrs Flynn, how did you get an assistant. I'm not there yet since it's only day 1 but if I need one...

I added a Sim to the SavedSim folder. \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims
Loaded CAS, found her via Custom Sims, saved her to the Library and then added her to my household.  This Sims in not an NPC. It is one that you'll need to control.

You can dismiss or ask the mascot leave. They usually only come to your house once and don't come back unless you make friends with them. You can also delete the basket they put on your lawn or front porch.

To get rid of them for your current save only, you can use Register.  I have notes here.

I asked him to leave and he did, but he came back and came right into the house. This time I shooed him away so I hope that means he's left for good.

I'm working on getting my sim stats filled up. Right now she's watching tv but I might send her to the bookstore so she can meet someone.

I just noticed my job doesn't start for 3 more days. Lots of time to work on skills.

Wk3-D3-Tues.  Toddlers were dropped off and day went Great!! With only a few hiccups. lol  One of the toddlers decided to walk outside without a jacket on. I had to have Aria run to get them.  Maybe teaching walk isn't such a good idea? hehehe

Was so shocked that happened, I didn't get a screenshot.

When we've got a full work-week (which seems to be only 4 days at the moment) it seems to be easier to get into the grove of things.

Those days off and holidays really throw me off when I first started.

Wk3-D4-Wed.  Looks like it's Spooky Day. Not sure if it's it's recognized as a holiday or not. Yep. It's recognized as a holiday. = No Work Day.

Clicked on Mapview to look around town, specially at Mirabello Plaza, the Festival Lot, or Big Park and see the families I placed into my save.   I haven't seen any of them show up for daycare.  I'm wondering if adding them in after the save has already been started doesn't really help what I'm calling the "On-the-Clock" bug?

All these days off and holiday means no pay... Daycare workers don't seem to get paid a whole lot. Around $100-ish to start up to close to $200-250, if doing a good/great job, per work day. Thank goodness my Sims have gardening. lol :)

Wk3-D5-Thurs.  Yay!! Toddlers!! Hungry little tots!! Pick em up, Snuggle, Feed and Change 'em and sometimes repeat. Got a Great report, raise and am Lv.2 - Cool Care-Giver!! Whoot!!

Day 1 of actual work is going well so far. Munchkins are fed and changed and are on the move in the walkers.

Debbie even had the chance to grab lunch and visit the loo. When do the little stinkers nap?

But we have a little problem now. Korry is stuck in his walker facing the wall and Debbie can't pick him up.

Solved: I took down the wall that was in front of the walker and dad was able to pick him up. If I'd done that sooner, I might have got a better score for Korry. Oh well. Day one went well and was fun.
