Daycare Profession Challenge and Play-Through
« on: January 20, 2023, 10:52:16 AM »
Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you would be up to playing through this profession that came with the Generations expansion pack - with a Sim of choice?

There is a help page over at Carl's Sims 3 Guides: Here an article on Sims Wiki and another Daycare Guide Here From Gameyum.

I don't believe I ever finished this profession. It could perhaps be a fun way to get back into the game if you've been away like me.

Daycare Career - Tips, Notes and Info.

   ----

   ~ Troubleshooting:

On the clock, but no toddlers? Possible Fixes -

  1. Reset Town/Evict or Move Household and move 'em back in.
  2. Quit and join profession again.
  3. Add more families with toddlers into town. (This may not fully fix the issue.)

-- If having problems: save family and their house separately via Edit Town. Then evict family, bulldoze home, replace home and replace family.

   ----

   ~ Tips:

✽ Tip:  With Seasons installed or enabled, you will get holidays each Thurs or possibly Fri. If you don't want that. Try uninstalling/disabling this pack before starting the career.

✽ Tip:  When starting off, having just a few basic kids toys should be enough. For example: Building Blocks table; Toy Box; and Peg Box. Later getting an expensive tv and the playpen helps when you have 3 or more toddlers. ;)  Keep everyone entertained, socialized, fed, clean and in a good/great mood. You'll get a great report. lol

✽ Tip:  Toddlers will use a potty chair if they are potty trained, but even if they use it, it will not impact the "daycare" diaper status. They seem to be two separate needs.

✽ Tip:  Feed toddlers a bottle on the floor instead of using a highchair. Feeding on the floor helps caring for them much more fluid and less time consuming. And more importantly, it means less routing for all the Sims involved to take into consideration.

✽ Tip:  School aged kids also simply arrive, do their homework, and maybe play with the dollhouse before leaving. They are only at the daycare for a couple of hours during the day.

✽ Tip:  If you do decide to use the Work Fridays Mod and decide to delete it. Don't forget to delete the cache files after deleting the mod and use Nraas MasterController to Reset Everything to reset the career. So the game knows you took out the mod. Otherwise, you might get toddlers on Friday, when your expecting a day off. lol

✽ Tip:  You (your main daycare provider Sim) can't interact with parents/caretakers of the toddlers/kids when they're getting dropped off or picked up. Try befriending them on your days off or after work. If you're wanting to gain friendship with the parents/caretaker, from what I have learned. It seems like with this career friendship with parents/caretaker doesn't matter.

Work Fridays Mod - https://modthesims.info/d/618708

Toddlers Can Sit on Sims' Laps  - https://modthesims.info/d/669909

   ----

   ~ Information:

If there is suppose to be 5 toddlers and the game only sends 4. Or a toddler gets deleted for whatever reason, the daycare system replaces the kid the very next work day.  If no extra kids in the town, the game will create a new family.

Daycare Career levels, according to SimsWiki: https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Daycare

Lv.1 - Amateur Babysitter = 2 toddlers
Lv.2 - Cool Caregiver = 3 toddlers
Lv.3 - Daycare Dynamo = 4 toddlers - Daycare worker now has Tell a Tale option.
Lv.4 - Good Guardian = 5 kids* - Mix of toddlers and kids.
Lv.5 - Daycare Specialist = 6 Kids* - Mix of toddlers and kids.

 * This could include a mix of toddlers and kids and will include weekend work.

We can just play until/if it gets bugged beyond fun :)

I'm in the process of building a suitable house without stairs like the one shown in Carl's guide. I'll post pics once I'm satisfied with it.

I am in the process of setting up a house that's I've just built. Then I have to create a new sim. We'll see how it goes. :)

Hmmm... Ears Perk-up!!

I have no clue about this career. I do know that it's majorly buggy, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Did they start with a small house and build larger as they went along?  Or can we go with something that we've already built, that has a fair amount of room? I tried to look at the house in the guide, but there was a lot going on.

I'm thinking maybe this house would work?
Finley ~ 30x30 - 4bds/3Ba  Does have a basement, but no foundation.

** Added I went with the house above and added a few Store items like the Baby Swing, Playpen and Tomfoolery Toybox and added to the Finley house page above. Finley-DCH2.zip  I also found my Daycare Sims and they are added to Finley's page as well. :)

I'm just using the house that I've just finished. If it doesn't work, I'll build something specific. I don't have a whole lot of room in this particular house but it will do to start with.
Yours looks like it has lots of room.

I have to quit in a few mins. I have something else I need to do.

Okay, cool!! :)

I figured Finley would work best, because it's got a fairly big main floor.

This was originally my first choice.

Taylor-B2 ~ 30x30 - 4Bds/4Ba - also has basement, but no foundation and half floor above. 2 bedrooms on the main floor, with 2 more in the basement.  Fenced yard with green house. lol

Cause the gardening addiction is real!! Yo!! lol

The guide makes a point of using a house with plenty of entry space for when parent Sims arrive.

The guide also says that potty chairs are not needed, but I seem to recall having taught toddlers to use it.

Anyway, I advice reading the guide before starting out in order to have everything in place.

Also, we can try the challenge with no money cheats if that is of interest. Or not. This is about the profession.

Here is the house I will be using. The layout at least. I might change the colors when I procrastinate.

And the Sim I will be using. Her name is Jasmine Alvi. She is a granddaughter of Agnes Crumplebottom from Sunset Valley and Musa Alvi (who is a VJxMiraj engineered offspring)
